Easy Homemade Lemon Iced Tea

Easy delicious lemon iced tea made from simple ingredients!
This is an easy refreshing iced tea that you can make in the morning during the summer months or anytime! It’s very inexpensive compared to buying brand name iced tea which are more processed. You can always substitute white sugar with honey, agave syrup, maple syrup, stevia…and so on for a healthier beverage.

Grocery Tips
I like to use Liptons tea brand because I like the flavour the most so far.
For the lemon juice, I use concentrated lemon juice because it is far less cheaper than buying fresh lemons. I don’t know about where you live but here a lemon can go for $1.50 – $2.00.
As for the sweetener, I do use white sugar most of the time. I use as little as I possibly can without ruining the flavour of iced tea that I enjoy. Like I said above, there are plenty of other sweeteners you can opt for if you do not want white sugar.

Shopping List
Black Tea, tea bags
Lemon juice – either concentrate or fresh lemons
White sugar – any sweetener will work

Quick Recipe Run Down
I used to boil the water in a kettle and pour it into a  glass jug but I find I have to let it cool too much before steeping the teat bags. So now I do it this way: Boil just over a litre of water in a kettle, pour the boiling water into a high heat container. (I don’t have one so I pour the water into a metal bowl), add two tea bags to a litre of boiled hot water in your bowl, jug or whatever container you are using. If you are using glass be careful, I added hot water to a “high temperature” glass jug and it still exploded, so be very cautious about what you are using.

Add two tea bags to the hot water and steel for 15 minutes. Remove bags and add sugar, dissolve sugar and add the lemon juice. Stir it up and let it sit until it cool substantially. Once cooled enough, transfer the liquid to the storage container, juice jug or glass bottle. Store in the fridge too get nice and chill, and enjoy through out the day!

Fun Tip: Make iced tea cubes in the freezer and blend them for a refreshing iced tea slush!

Storage & Reheating
In an air tight container you can store your iced tea for a week in the fridge.
Freeze iced tea cubed to add to you glass of iced tea to stop from watering it down on hot days!
